Gryffindor

The house that we all love. Gryffindor. It’s the house that the Golden Trio was sorted into. It’s a really honorable house to be in and all, but let us not all go crazy just because Harry, Ron, and Hermione are in it. It plays a strong part in the story because it’s the protagonist house.

Gryffindor is known for the brave and daring, yet Peter Pettigrew is not what you’d call “brave”. It just goes to show that our thoughts or character can deceive even the Sorting Hat. Who knows what put him in that house. Though he was brave enough to fulfill Voldemort’s tasks. Like chopping off his right hand. That may have been from sheer stupidity, though. I cringe every time I see that on screen. Not really. He was, let’s not forget, a hatstall between Slytherin and Gryffindor.

Gryffindor’s primary color is red, which means: war, courage, strong emotions, etc.. And those are perfect colors for it. I’m going to use seven Gryffindor students (from Harry’s student years) and their bravest moments as examples to show how Gryffindor was the right house for them.

•Ron Weasley-Year1:

“Well, Harry, you take the place of that bishop, and Hermione, you next to him instead of that castle. “ “What about you?” “I’m going to be a knight,” said Ron.

Ron is by far one of the coolest Gryffindors. He’s done a great deal of greatly heroic stuff. The moment I chose is the “chess scene”. He’s a great wizard’s chess player. According to Harry, he’s better the Percy. Sacrificing himself shows that he’s got gut. Earning fifty points from this win is truly amazing. He did all of this to stop ” Snape” from the Sorcerer’s/Philosopher’s stone. Props to Ron!

•Rubeus Hagrid-Year2:

“If anyone wanted ter find out some stuff, all they’d have ter do would be ter follow the spiders. That’d lead ’em right! That’s all I’m sayin’.

So now (in the quote) Hagrid’s going to Azkaban and says the previous quote as a quick instruction to Ron and Harry (who are standing in the corner under the cloak). He’s getting sent to Azkaban as a “safety precaution” for false accusations that he opened the Chamber of Secrets fifty years before and has a dangerous creature in his possession; though we all know it’s Tom Riddle who was guilty. Now, this is true bravery right here. Knowing it wasn’t him and going to prison is gosh-darn good of him. He seemed kinda chill with it. He was putting his faith in two twelve-year-olds. That’s pretty lit.

•Sirius Black-Year3:

“I did my waiting! Twelve years of it, in Azkaban!”

Sirius Black is a good-to-the-bone kind of guy. He was betrayed by Peter Pettigrew for the death of the Potters. Spending over a decade in a place like Azkaban is, all in all, a true performance of bravery. He was betrayed so badly that he made his way onto Muggle news. He was also a proud member of The Order of the Phoenix. He even died on a courageous account. This all goes to show how much of a good guy and godfather he is.

Neville Longbottom-Year4:

“[Neville] Said she’s [Ginny] always been really nice, helping him out with work and stuff- but she told him she was already going with someone. Ha! As if! She just didn’t want to go with Neville. . . I mean, who would?”

Poor Neville is always rejected and picked on. He’s always considered weird and wimpy. He had hopes that he’d find a date for the Yule Ball. He asked Hermione but got rejected. But he ended up with Ginny. He actually had a good time and stayed until the ball ended. He got out of his comfort zone and was very brave for the event. He always makes a comeback. Let us not forget he’s the current herbology professor at Hogwarts.

Arthur Weasley-Year5:

Nobody else spoke for a moment, then Dumbledore, now looking at Ron who was still whey-faced, asked in a new and sharper voice, “Is Arthur seriously injured?”

Arthur Weasley has always been one of Harry’s father figure. The ol’ semi-balding, anything-muggle-obsessed man is a true unsung hero. But surviving Nagini’s attack may not be considered “bravery”, but it’s definitely perseverance. He definitely went through loads of pain. Having low income and seven children to support and managing to survive is definitely really sweet.

Albus P. W. B. Dumbledore-Year6:

Snape gazed for a moment at Dumbledore, and there was revulsion and hatred etched in the harsh lines of his face.  “Severus . . . please . . . “ Snape raised his wand and pointed it directly at Dumbledore.

Dumbledore. The greatest wizard to ever live. I could write all day about him. He is basically a mini Godric. It’s pretty crazy he lived for over a century and got around like a twenty-seven year old. He is known all over the place. He gave his life for Snape to be trusted among the Death Eaters and You-Know-Who. Falling a few hundred feet is barbaric. He is known for his defeat of Johnny De-… I mean Grindelwald. He shows bravery through everything he says and does. He is one of Harry’s many father-figures throughout his life. He saved many lives. He is known as the greatest headmaster Hogwarts has ever had. R.I.P Dumby. I’m not crying.

Harry Potter-Year7:

“Nobody,” said Harry simply. “There are no more Horcruxes. It’s just you and me. Neither can live while the other survives, and one of us is about to leave for good. . . .”

Ok. Harry is our man. He is the key in our story, and he does something brave in each of his years. Harry means a lot to all of us. He may have even changed our lives. He a pretty cool guy. He saved the whole Wizarding World, even though he destroyed only destroyed one-seventh of the Horcruxes…. Taking on Voldemort in the forest was the bravest thing he ever did. Another brave moment in his seventh year was when he exposed himself to Snape in the Great Hall. It’s a really heroic moment. I left out loads of other characters unfortunately because there’s a lot of them. Hogwarts is truly amazing.

Thank you for reading my first post. It was really childish and may have had bad grammar. I might if I have time in the future, go through and fix some things. Doing this can be very time-consuming. If you have any compliments, complaints, suggestions,  or comments, please let me know at the bottom of the page. Thanks!
